Day 2

Journey to Kibale Forest

Travel west through Uganda’s lush interior toward Kibale’s forested primate country. After breakfast, depart Entebbe and travel west into Uganda’s green interior. The road winds through cultivated hillsides, village centers, and the tea country around Fort Portal before arriving near Kibale Forest National Park. What makes this day memorable is not simply the distance covered, but the steady transformation of the landscape: urban Uganda gives way to farmland, then to richer, moister country at the forest edge. This morning is devoted to guided chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park. Accompanied by expert rangers, you enter one of East Africa’s most important primate forests in search of a habituated chimpanzee community. Day 4

Queen Elizabeth National Park

Descend from forested highlands into Uganda’s classic savannah safari landscape.

Depart Kibale and continue toward Queen Elizabeth National Park, where the journey opens dramatically from rainforest to broad savannah. The route itself is part of the experience, revealing Rwenzori views, open plains, and a different rhythm of wildlife country. After arrival at Mweya, head out on an introductory game drive that may reveal elephant, buffalo, antelope, and a rich variety of birdlife. Today the route continues south through the Ishasha sector, an area known for its wildlife corridor and the chance – if fortunate – to spot the region’s famous tree-climbing lions. Gradually the landscape rises, the air cools, and the road moves into the highland country approaching Bwindi. This progression from open savannah to ancient mountain rainforest is one of the journey’s most beautiful transitions, creating a strong emotional and visual build toward the gorilla experience still to come.

Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

Trek into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for time with a habituated mountain gorilla family.

After breakfast, transfer to park headquarters for briefing before beginning the gorilla trek. The experience varies according to the gorillas’ location and the day’s terrain, which is precisely what makes it feel so earned. When the moment comes, and you find yourself in the presence of a habituated mountain gorilla family, the encounter is intimate, moving, and almost always unforgettable. Departure

Depart Bwindi and connect onward via Entebbe for international flights.
