Day 1

Welcome to Uganda- Arrival reception at Entebbe Airport

Arrive in Entebbe and settle beside Lake Victoria before the overland journey west begins.

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you are met and transferred privately to your hotel on the quiet shores of Lake Victoria. The remainder of the day is intentionally light, allowing time to recover from international travel, breathe out after the long-haul flight, and ease gently into Uganda’s rhythm. This calm arrival sets the tone for the week ahead: well-paced, well-supported, and designed to feel seamless from the outset.

Protea Hotel Entebbe

Day 2

Journey to Kibale Forest

Travel west through Uganda’s lush interior toward Kibale’s forested primate country. After breakfast, depart Entebbe and travel west into Uganda’s green interior. The road winds through cultivated hillsides, village centers, and the tea country around Fort Portal before arriving near Kibale Forest National Park. What makes this day memorable is not simply the distance covered, but the steady transformation of the landscape: urban Uganda gives way to farmland, then to richer, moister country at the forest edge. By late afternoon, you arrive at your lodge with a distinct sense that the primate portion of the journey has truly begun.

Day 3

Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest

Spend the morning tracking habituated chimpanzees in one of East Africa’s richest primate habitats.

This morning is devoted to guided chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park. Accompanied by expert rangers, you enter one of East Africa’s most important primate forests in search of a habituated chimpanzee community. The experience is energetic, immersive, and intensely alive: the forest crackles with movement, sound, and anticipation. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and a more unhurried afternoon, with time to rest, enjoy the setting, and absorb the shift from observation to reflection that often follows a meaningful wildlife encounter.

Day 4

Queen Elizabeth National Park

Descend from forested highlands into Uganda’s classic savannah safari landscape.

Depart Kibale and continue toward Queen Elizabeth National Park, where the journey opens dramatically from rainforest to broad savannah. The route itself is part of the experience, revealing Rwenzori views, open plains, and a different rhythm of wildlife country. After arrival at Mweya, head out on an introductory game drive that may reveal elephant, buffalo, antelope, and a rich variety of birdlife. It is a day of transition in the best sense: the primate chapter gives way to the safari arc without breaking the journey’s elegance or momentum.

Day 5

Safari and Kalinga Channel

Pair a morning game drive with a boat safari on one of Uganda’s richest wildlife channels.

Begin early with a game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, when wildlife activity is often at its best. Later, board a safari boat on the Kazinga Channel, an ecosystem famed for hippos, crocodiles, birdlife, and the steady choreography of animals drawn to the water’s edge. The contrast between these two perspectives – land-based tracking in the open savannah and quiet observation from the water – makes this one of Uganda’s most satisfying safari days. It feels both abundant and varied, with the channel experience offering a signature sense of place.

Day 6

Ishasha to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Travel south through Ishasha and onward into the highlands at the edge of Bwindi.

Today the route continues south through the Ishasha sector, an area known for its wildlife corridor and the chance – if fortunate – to spot the region’s famous tree-climbing lions. Gradually the landscape rises, the air cools, and the road moves into the highland country approaching Bwindi. This progression from open savannah to ancient mountain rainforest is one of the journey’s most beautiful transitions, creating a strong emotional and visual build toward the gorilla experience still to come.

Day 7

Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

Trek into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for time with a habituated mountain gorilla family.

After breakfast, transfer to park headquarters for briefing before beginning the gorilla trek. The experience varies according to the gorillas’ location and the day’s terrain, which is precisely what makes it feel so earned. When the moment comes, and you find yourself in the presence of a habituated mountain gorilla family, the encounter is intimate, moving, and almost always unforgettable. Few wildlife experiences in the world match its emotional weight. Return to the lodge later in the day for time to rest and reflect on one of the continent’s most profound encounters.

Day 8

Departure

Depart Bwindi and connect onward via Entebbe for international flights.

Following breakfast, depart for onward travel back toward Entebbe, either by domestic flight connection or by final overland arrangements depending on logistics. As the journey closes, what lingers is not only the individual highlights – chimpanzees, safari, Kazinga, gorillas – but the coherence of the experience as a whole. Uganda reveals itself here as a destination of unusual ecological range and emotional power, brought together in a week that feels both concentrated and complete.

Elevated views, spacious cottages, and a warm, relaxed mood create a stay that feels immersed rather than generic. The lodge’s appeal lies not in excess, but in how naturally it belongs to its environment – a comfortable, characterful place from which chimpanzee tracking feels like a continuation of the landscape rather than a separate excursion.
